Biography

John James Young was a single 23 year old electrician from Ballarat who enlisted as a Private with the 59th Battalion, 9th Reinforcements on the 14th of April 1917. His Unit embarked from Sydney, New South Wales, on board HMAT A16 Port Melbourne on the 16th of July 1917. He returned to Australia on the 2nd of March 1919 and was discharged on the 25th of March 1919 as medically unfit due to trench fever.
