Biography

Born in Ballarat, Phillip Henry Luplau was a single 20 year old painter at the time of his enlistment on the 14th of April 1917. His unit embarked from Sydney, New South Wales, on board HMAT A16 Port Melbourne on the 16th of July 1917.
On the 4th of March 1918, Phillip was wounded in action by a shell. He embarked for England on the 19th of March and was admitted to Mile End Military Hospital in London with contusions to his left ankle, and a fractured left fibula.
Phillip rejoined his battalion on the 3rd of October 1918.
He returned to Australia on the 22nd of September 1919 and was discharged due to the termination of his enlistment period on the 22nd of October 1919.
