Richard Charles Woods was a labourer who had been born in Ballarat East and enlisted there on 14th July 1917. He was 26 years old and single. He was posted to the 21st Infantry Battalion, with Regimental No. 6909A. The "A" was added because of duplication within the unit. On 6th July 1918 he was killed in action in the area of Villers-Bretonneux, and is buried in Longeau British Cemetery, France.
