George Leslie Reeves (SN 6874A) was born in Ballarat and educated at Sebastopol State School. He enlisted on August 21st 1917 as an unmarried, 21 year old dairy farmer. Posted to the 24th Infantry Battalion, he left Melbourne in November on board the Nestor, bound for the Western Front. He arrived in France the following April and spent some weeks in hospital in Boulogne after being gassed. He rejoined his unit in July but, on August 12th 1918, he was killed in the fighting at Proyart. He has no known grave and his name is recorded on the Australian Memorial at Villers-Bretonneux, France.
