Biography

Born in Ballarat, Victoria and a fruiterer by trade, Rodney John Allen was only 22 years and single when enlisted on the 29th of June 1917 in the 29th Battalion, 14th Reinforcement, Australian Imperial Force with the rank of Private, number 4978 and Embarkation Roll number 23/46/4. His Unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A38 'Ulysses' on the 22nd of December 1917. On the 29th of July 1918 was wounded in action and on the 14th of October 1918 was transferred to hospital Gunshot Wound head and right arm. Returned to Australia on the 4th of January 1919. His War service was at the Western Front. Tree No: 3002
