Biography

Stanley George Roberts was born in Ballarat, Vic, was married to Mrs Lydia M Roberts and was a Cook living in West Melbourne when he enlisted in the 21st Battalion, 20th Reinforcement on 4 August 1917 at the age of 27. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A71 Nestor on 21 November 1917. In May of 1918 he proceeded overseas to France and was transferred to the 21st Battalion. Two months later he was wounded in action with a gunshot wound to the left wrist and invalided to England before returning to Australia on 20 November 1918.
