Walter Nunn was a 21 year old clerk who was born and enlisted in Ballarat. Walter enlisted on the 24th of September 1917 and his unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A71 Nestor on the 21st of November 1917. He was the Acting Lance Corporal from the 28th of October 1917 to the 3rd of January 1918, where he was then appointed the 2nd Class Air Mechanic. He returned to Australia on the 16th of June 1919 and was discharged on the 7th of August 1919.
