Biography

Robert Henry Lawson (SN 1129) was born in Ballarat South, but enlisted in Stratford on September 30th 1914. He was 28 years old, single and employed as a labourer. He joined the 5th Infantry Battalion and sailed from Melbourne on board the Themistocles in December, bound for Gallipoli. He was killed in action during the historic landing, his date of death recorded as April 26th 1915. He has no known grave, and his name is recorded on the Australian Memorial at Lone Pine, Gallipoli, Turkey.
