Biography

George Dowson (SN 8187) born in England, was a married 39 year old miner when he enlisted in Melbourne on September 14th 1917. On November 26th he embarked aboard the Indarra and sailed to Egypt then England before he reached France in March 1918 to serve with the 2nd Tunnelling Company. He served out the remaining months of the war without major incident and returned to Australia aboard the Takada, disembarked at Melbourne on February 11th 1919 and was discharged two weeks later on February 26th.
