Biography

Alexander Peter Hugh Drummond was born in Ballarat and was a Labourer by trade when he enlisted in the 38th Battalion, 8th Reinforcement on 8 September 1917 at the age of 18. On May 20th 1918 he moved to France to serve with the 38th Battalion but was severely restricted by ongoing illness. After three months in France he was transferred back to hospital in England where it was eventually determined that he should be returned to Australia. He sailed from England on December 21st 1918 and upon his return to Melbourne he was discharged as æmedically unfit – Trench Fever'.
