George Arthur Albert Lionel Kibby (SN 21699) was born in Ballarat where he enlisted as a married, 26 year-old painter on September 17th 1917. Assigned to the Army Medical Corps, he embarked from Sydney on board the Borda in July 1918 and was appointed Acting Corporal for the duration of the voyage. He served with the 6th Field Ambulance in France and was promoted to Lance Corporal in April 1919 just prior to his return to Australia aboard the Suevic. He landed in Australia in July and was discharged on September 25th 1919.
Lucas’s Staffs Appreciation of Brave Men, the original Avenue register, records his name as Lionel G. Kibby.
