Biography

James Alfred Morris was born in Sydney, NSW and was a Motor Mechanic living in Ballarat when he enlisted in the 1st Pioneer Battalion, 15th Reinforcement on 3 October 1917 at the age of 21. His unit embarked from Sydney, New South Wales, on board RMS Osterley on 8 May 1918. He reached England in July and in mid-October 1918, just three weeks before the Armistice, he joined the 3rd Pioneer Battalion in France. In July 1919 he departed England on the Prinz Hubertus and disembarked back in Australia on August 25th.
