Ernest Parker Tregaskis was born in Ballarat, Victoria and was an Accountant when he enlisted with the 14th Australian General Hospital on 22 March 1916 at the age of 29. As a Sergeant serving aboard Hospital transport ships in 1916, his embarkation records show a range of departures from both Melbourne and Sydney from 29 July to 19 September 1916. He was reported sick to hospital on 2 June 1917, but show no other report of major illness, injury or incident. He returned to Australia on 15 October 1919 and was discharged on 11 February 1920 for ædisability'.
