George Henry Douglass (SN3225), born at Ballarat, was a 31year old married fireman when he enlisted at Broken Hill on March 30th 1916. On April 24th he embarked aboard the Malakuta and sailed to England before crossing to France in November to serve with the 32nd Infantry Battalion. On April 29th 1918 he suffered a severe gunshot wound to his abdomen and was evacuated to hospital in England. His wound was so severe that he was returned to Australia aboard the Medic, disembarked on October 11th and was discharged medically unfit on November 22nd 1918. He also enlisted to serve during World War 2.
