Harold Mason Stallard (SN 6/149) born at Ballarat, was a 23 year old butcher when he enlisted in Christchurch, New Zealand, on August 13th 1914. He embarked on October 16th and sailed via Albany, West Australia, to Egypt as part of the first Anzac fleet. It appears that on arrival in Egypt he was found to be unfit for active service and was returned to New Zealand, disembarking on May 5th 1915. He was discharged medically unfit on February 1st 1916.
His brothers William and Stanley served in the AIF and are honoured with trees in the Avenue.
