Biography

Thomas Norman Stephens was born in South Yarra, Victoria, was single and a Clerk when he enlisted with the 5th Battalion, E Company on 15 August 1914 at the age of 20. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board Transport A3 Orvieto on 21 October 1914. His records are brief, stating only that on 10 June 1915 he returned to Australia and was discharged at Melbourne. The reason given: medially unfit.
