Richard Berryman was born in Ballarat, Victoria, was single and was employed as a Baker. He enlisted in Perth, Western Australia at the age of 34. He volunteered and was stationed with the 13th Australian Army Service Corps later transferring to the 1st Field Bakery with the Regimental number 1837/5299. He was discharged and Returned to Australia on the 7th of February 1919. Tree number 3108.
