Assigned to '3 months Duty on Transport', he returned to Australia aboard the Hororata in August and his appointment was terminated at the end of January 1916.
In October 1918, he joined the Italian Reservists as a Lieutenant, embarking on the Medic on November 2nd. However, the ship was recalled due to the cessation of hostilities, and he was discharged in January 1919. He served again in World War Two.
