Biography

George Gordon Simpson (SN 32406) was born in Warracknabeal, but was educated at Grenville College in Ballarat. He enlisted in Ballarat on October 23rd 1916. He was 27 years of age, unmarried and a bookseller. He was allocated to 4th Field Artillery Brigade and embarked from Melbourne in February 1917 on board the Osterley. He spent several months training in England before being posted to France in August 1917. On September 20th 1918 he died of wounds sustained at the Hindenberg Line. He is buried in St Sever Communal Cemetery, Rouen, France.
