Biography

William Nixon enlisted two times. The first being on the 14th of November 1914, and the second being on the 2nd of July 1917. He was 21 years old and a farm labourer by trade at the time of his first enlistment, his unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A46 Clan Macgillivray on the 2nd of February 1915. He returned to Australia on the 15th of November 1915 due to lung trouble and was discharged on the 15th of May 1916. William re-enlisted with the 46th Battalion at the age of 24 on the 2nd of July 1917, and his unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria on board the HMAT A71 Nestor on the 28th of February 1918.He returned to Australia for a second time on the 8th of October 1919 and was discharged on the 30th of April 1920.
