Biography

Ernest Eberhard McDuff, an Asylum attendant from Beaufort, Victoria, enlisted in the 7th Infantry Battalion on 17 July 1915 at the age of 27. He was married to Mrs L McDuff of 225 Burnley Street, Burnley, Victoria at the time. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A71 Nestor on 11 October 1915. He was admitted to the 22nd General Hospital for shell shock during activates in France on 27 July 1916 and again to the 2nd Eastern General Hospital in Brighton on 31 July 1916. On 21 August 1918 he as declared medically unfit due to gas poisoning and bronchitis. He returned to Australia 12 May 1919
