Biography

Cecil McDonald, a Motor bus greaser from Shepparton, enlisted in the 8th Battalion, 12th Reinforcement on 9 July 1915 at the age of 25. His unit embarked from Adelaide, South Australia, on board HMAT A40 Ceramic on 23 November 1915. On 18 August 1916 he was wounded in action in France with a slight gunshot wound to the upper extremity and admitted to 1st Australian General Hospital. He later rejoined his unit on 16 January 1917. He returned to Australia 27 September 1917 and received a promotion to Corporal on 8 January 1918 before receiving his final discharge orders.
