Biography

Errol Victor Iles, a Salesman from Ballarat, enlisted in the 3rd Light Horse Regiment, 13th Reinforcement on 13 September 1915 at the age of 29. His Unit embarked from Adelaide, South Australia, on board HMAT A30 Borda on 11 January 1916. He was transferred to the 5th Divisional Artillery on 28 April 1916 and appointed as a Driver on 16 May 1916. In France, on 12 April 1918, he was appointed as Acting Bombardier, receiving a promotion to Lance Corporal. He returned to Australia on 15 May 1919 and received his final discharge on 18 August 1919.
