Thomas Anderson (Lt. Col.) born in Ballarat, was a married 45 year old accountant when he was appointed, at the rank of Major, to the Sea Transport Service on September 4th 1915. As the Officer Commanding troopship voyages, he did multiple return trips between Melbourne and England on as many as six different vessels. His final voyage was aboard the Ulysses and his appointment was terminated on his arrival at Melbourne on April 12th 1917.
