Harold Nelson Ferguson, a School teacher from Oakleigh, Vic, enlisted in the 15th Field Ambulance on 12 July 1915 at the age of 23. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Vic, on board HMAT A63 Karoola on 1 December 1915. He was wounded in action whilst in France on 17 April 1918, suffering from a gas attack. He returned to Australia 12 December 1918 and received a medical discharge on 18 March 1919.
