Biography

Charles Hoskin Richards (SN 10/181) was born in Ballarat but enlisted in Wellington, New Zealand, at the age of 22 on the August 12th 1914. Before enlisting in New Zealand, he had served for a short time with the 7th Australian Infantry Battalion. He served with the Wellington Infantry Regiment until he was reported missing in action and later killed in action in Belgium on August 2nd 1917. He has no known grave, and his name is listed on the Messines Ridge New Zealand Memorial, Belgium.
