Biography

Percival Colin Veale (SN 2913) born in Ballarat, was a married 44 year old labourer when he enlisted in Ballarat on March 1st 1915. Assigned to the 8th Infantry Battalion he embarked aboard the Makarini on September 15th and served at Gallipoli for the last couple of weeks of that campaign. In March 1916 he was transferred to the 1st Pioneer Battalion and moved to France the following month. In March 1917 failing health caused him to be withdrawn to England before being returned to Australia aboard the Benalla on August 25th 1917. He was discharged medically unfit on January 4th 1918.
