Hedley Long enlisted in Ballarat, Victoria, at the age of 24 on the 25th of March 1915. He had been born in Ballarat, Victoria was single, and was employed as a Springmaker. He volunteered and was stationed with the 22nd Battalion, C Company with the Regimental number 970. He was discharged and Returned to Australia on the 6th September 1919.
