Biography

James Albert Hart (SN 2362) born in Melbourne, was a 33 year old married miner when he enlisted at Korumburra on April 30th 1915. He embarked on July 16th aboard the Demosthenes and transferred from the 7th Battalion to the 58th Battalion before reaching France in March 1916. He suffered a gunshot wound to his left ear in July and did not rejoin his unit until April 1917. He had a number of health problems during 1918 including trench fever, gastritis and myalgia. He was returned to Australia aboard the Carpentaria, disembarked on October 4th 1918 and, after further treatment in Melbourne, was discharged on August 23rd 1919.
