Archibald Ormond Gilbert enlisted in Ballarat, Victoria, at the age of 21 on the 12th of July 1915. He had been born in Allendale, Victoria, was single, and was employed as a Grocer. He volunteered and was stationed with the 8th Infantry Brigade Train later transferring to the 29th Australian Army Service Corps with the Regimental number 8014. He was discharged and Returned to Australia on the 8th May 1919. Tree No. 3239.
