William Henry Little (SN 5312) was born at Newmarket, Victoria, and was a 24 year old boot maker when he enlisted in Ballarat on July 24th 1915. He sailed from Melbourne on January 5th 1916 and sailed to Egypt where he was hospitalised with diphtheria. Once recovered, he moved on to England and then to France in August 1916 where he served with the 2nd and 3rd Australian Signals Companies. At the war’s end he returned to Australia on the Karagola, disembarked on June 12th 1919 and was discharged two months later.
His brother Robert also served in the AIF and is honoured with a tree in the Avenue.
