Biography

Born in Ballarat, Thomas Henry McCarthy was a single 19 year old clerk at the time of his enlistment on the 20th of July 1915. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A18 Wiltshire on the 7th of March 1916. On the 12th of March 1919, Thomas was transferred to England with Bronchitis. He returned to Australia on the 22nd of July 1919, and was discharged as medically unfit on the 19th of October 1919.
