Born in Ballarat, Percy Joseph Murphy was a single 20 year old printer at the time of his enlistment on the 22nd of July 1915. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A41 Bakara on the 5th of November 1915.
On the 12th of January 1919 Percy was promoted to Extra Regimental Second Corporal.
He returned to Australia on the 2nd of August 1919, and was discharged due to the termination of his enlistment period on the 24th of September 1919.
