William Dow was born in Ballarat, Victoria was single and was employed as a Farm Labourer. He enlisted in Dunolly, Victoria at the age of 20. He volunteered and was stationed with the 8th Light Horse Regiment, 3rd Reinforcement with the Regimental number 781. He was Killed in Action on the 7th of August 1915, at Gallipoli, Turkey. He has no known grave, but he is commemorated at the Lone Pine Memorial, Panel 6. Tree number 327.
