Biography



Francis Ernest Williams was a single 18 year old clerk from Ballarat when he enlisted on the 12th of July 1915. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A54 Runic on the 20th of June 1916. On January 10th 1917 he was taken on strength from the 10th Field Ambulance to the 2nd Australian Auxiliary Hospital. He was promoted to Lance Corporal on the 8th of March 1919 and promoted again on the 1st of August 1919 to Extra Regimental Corporal and acted as a Temporary Sergeant Francis returned to Australia on the 6th of February 1920 and was discharged due to the termination of his enlistment period on the 19th of April 1920.
