John Patrick Garvey was born in Ballarat, Victoria was single and was employed as a Grocer. He enlisted in Ballarat, Victoria at the age of 18. He volunteered and was stationed with the 31st Battalion, D Company later transferring to the 14th Light Horse Regiment with the Regimental number 856. He was discharged and Returned to Australia on the 25th of December 1918. Tree number 3325.
