Biography

Eric Louden MacLeod (LT.) born in Ballarat enlisted on April 1st 1916 as a 25 year old company director. Commissioned as a Lieutenant he embarked aboard the Euripides on April 4th 1916. In June 1916 he joined the 23rd Battalion in France but a month later he was hospitalised with hammer toes and flat feet. He was sent back to England in early October, for return to Australia. He embarked from England aboard the Mooltan on October 27th, disembarked at Melbourne on December 13th and was discharged ‘permanently unfit’ on January 30th 1917

Lucas’s Staffs Appreciation of Brave Men, the original Avenue register, records his name as Eric L. McLeod.
