Biography

David Jones (SN 4527) was born in Wales, UK, but enlisted in Ballarat on July 9th 1915. He was 19 years old, single and a cordial maker. He was drafted to the 8th Infantry Battalion and embarked for active service in January 1916 on board the Themistocles. Later he was transferred to the 58th Infantry Battalion for service in France. He was killed in action at Polygon Wood, Belgium, on September 27th 1917 and is buried in Tyne Cot Cemetery, Belgium.
