Biography

Charles Arthur Carvosso (SN 2596) was a 35 year old blacksmith from Ararat when he enlisted in Melbourne on July 20th 1915. He trained at Seymour and Bendigo before embarking on the Moldavia on October 5th. He served in France with the 21st Battalion until August 24th 1916 when he was wounded in action. He suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was evacuated to the 3rd London General Hospital. It was then determined that his wound warranted his return to Australia. He left England aboard the Miltiades on May 4th 1917 and once back in Australia he was discharged ‘medically unfit – wounded’. He died on September 2nd 1940
