Biography

Charles Arthur Carvosso was born in Ballarat and was a Blacksmith by trade when he enlisted in the 21st Battalion, 6th Reinforcement on 20 July 1915 at the age of 34. His unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board RMS Moldavia on 5 October 1915. He served in France with the 21st Battalion until August 24th 1916 when he was wounded in action. He suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was evacuated to the 3rd London General Hospital. It was then determined that his wound warranted his return to Australia. He left England aboard the Miltiades on May 4th 1917 and once back in Australia he was discharged æmedically unfit – wounded'.
