John Thomas enlisted in Melbourne at the age 24 on the 12th of November 1914. He had been born in Drouin, Victoria, was single, and employed as a Printer. He volunteered and was stationed with the 5th Battalion, 2nd Reinforcements with the Regimental Number 1425. He was sent home to Australia with Enteric Fever on the 4th of November 1915.
