Biography

William Edward Edsall (SN 100) born at Hamilton, was a 19 year old clerk when he enlisted in Ballarat on March 15th 1916. On May 27th he embarked aboard the Ascanius and sailed first to England before moving on to France in November to serve with the 39th Infantry Battalion. His record shows he completed his service without significant illness or injury. He returned to Australia aboard the Kildonian Castle, disembarked on May 7th 1919 and was discharged two weeks later on May 21st.
