Matthew Thomas Goodall (SN 14560) born in Ballarat, was a married 27 year old cordial manufacturer when he enlisted in Ballarat on September 8th 1915. He was assigned to the Australian Medical Corps and trained at Ballarat and Broadmeadows before embarking aboard the Malwa on July 25th 1916. He served in Egypt and the Middle East without major illness or injury although on March 26th 1918 he was thrown over the head of a stumbling horse and suffered only minor injury. After the war he returned to Australia aboard the Kantara and was discharged on September 8th 1919
