Biography

George Reginald Mounsey (SN 1358) was born in Ballarat and attended the Alfredton State School. On November 9th 1914 he enlisted as an 18 year old, single, brass turner. He was accepted into the 7th Infantry Battalion and embarked from Melbourne in February 1915. During his service he was promoted to Lance Corporal, and transferred to 5th Infantry Battalion. On May 9th 1915 he died of wounds received at Cape Helles. He was buried at sea, but his name is on the Australian Memorial at Lone Pine Memorial, Gallipoli, Turkey.
