Biography

Carl Christie Frederick Schonfelder was a 44 year old miner from Ascot Street in Ballarat and married to Alice when he enlisted in February 1917. He served in France until his return to Australia in April 1918. He died in Ballarat in September 1931 at the age of 58 and is buried in the Ballarat New Cemetery.

Lucas’s Staffs Appreciation of Brave Men, the original Avenue register, records his name as Carl L. Schonfelder.
