Michael Richard Roche (SN 3895) from Sebastopol, was a 29 year old horse trainer when he enlisted on July 6th 1915. He sailed from Melbourne aboard the Ceramic on November 23rd. He joined the 46th Battalion in France in June 1916 and it seems he was one of those lucky enough to serve through the Western Front campaign without major injury or illness. After the war he returned home on the Armagh, disembarking at Melbourne on May 18th 1919.
