Biography

Henry Alfred Richardson (SN 7998) from Darling Street in Ballarat, attended the Urquhart Street State School before becoming a draper. He was 22 years of age, single, when he enlisted on September 13th 1915, initially with the 18th Company Austalian Army Service Corps. He left Australia on November 8th on the Bakara and in March 1916 he transferred to the 29th Coy. AASC. In June 1916 he reached France . Illness forced him to hospital for 40 days in early 1918 but otherwise he came through the war without major incident. He returned to Australia aboard the Orita and disembarked at Melbourne on August 6th 1919 and was discharged six weeks later on September 29th.
