Biography

Frank Turner Saddington (SN 3401) was a 26 year old plumber when he enlisted on July 6th 1915. He departed Melbourne aboard the Nestor on October 11th and sailed via Egypt reaching France in March 1916 to serve with the 58th Battalion. On July 25th 1916 he was wounded in action when he received a gunshot wound to his left leg. This was not a serious wound and he was soon back in the trenches only to be wounded again on August 20th when he was overcome by toxic gas. In November of 1916 he was evacuated to hospital in England suffering from pleurisy and it was determined that he was no longer fit for active service.
