Thomas Bernard McManamny (SN 6801) from Grant Street in Ballarat east was a 24 year old warehouseman when he enlisted on July 23rd 1915. He trained at Albert Park in Melbourne before embarking on the Wiltshire on November 18th. He joined the 4th Field Artillery Brigade in France in July 1916. On May 17th 1917 he was wounded in action, gassed. He recovered and saw out the remainder of the war without further injury. He returned to Australia on the Runic and disembarked at Melbourne on June 10th 1919.
