John Stanley Redfern (SN 2004) from Bond Street in Ballarat East was a 21 year old labourer when he enlisted on July 17th 1915. He left Australia on August 26th aboard the Anchises to serve with the 22nd Battalion. In September 1916 while in France he was transferred to the Service Corps as a driver. In November 1917 he was assigned the role as a driver with the 1st Anzac Topographical Section. After the war he returned home on the Sardinia and reached Melbourne on June 8th 1919. His service is commemorated on the honour board of the Golden Point State School.
