Archibald Clyde Fisken was born at Ballarat and educated at Ballarat College and Geelong Grammar Schools. He was in England when the First World War commenced so he joined the Royal Field Artillery and was commissioned as a lieutenant. He served in France from 1916 and during his service he was wounded but also awarded a Military Cross for bravery in 1918. He returned home after the war and was elected to one term as federal member for Ballarat and also served on the Buninyong Shire Council. He died in 1970.
